La Financière de l’Échiquier accelerates its European expansion and appoints Gonzalo Azcoitia as Country Head for Spain and Portugal

La Financière de l’Echiquier (LFDE) announces the appointment of Gonzalo Azcoitia, as Country Head for Spain and Portugal. Backed by Mathias Blandin, Director of Development for the Iberian Peninsula, and reporting to Bettina Ducat, Chief Executive Officer, Azcoitia will head up a strategic plan to accelerate expansion of LFDE’s managed assets in the two countries and to strengthen the brand’s reach and recognition, particularly with banking networks private banking clients.

LFDE, which opened its Madrid office in January 2019, distributes mainly an equity and multi-asset range in Spain and Portugal, as well as in Latin America.

About Gonzalo Azcoitia | Country Head for Spain and Portugal

A holder of a degree in economics from Complutense University of Madrid, Gonzalo Azcoitia has more than 25 years of experience in asset management. He began his career at Safei in 1989, before joining Herrero Gestión as Deputy CEO. From 1994 to 2007, he was Country Head at Mercury Asset Management, which became Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and, then, BlackRock. In 2014, he joined Jupiter Asset Management as head of development of professional and institutional investors, before being appointed Country Head for Spain, Portugal, and Andorra (with 1.8 billion euros under management as of January 2021). Since 2008, he has also been a professional coach with several companies. In February 2021, Azcoitia joined La Financière de l’Echiquier as Country Head for Spain and Portugal.
