La Financière de l’Echiquier increases its social and environmental commitments

La Financière de l’Echiquier (LFDE) set two new collaborative commitments to support the environment and access to medicine. Active in SRI for over 12 years, with a particular focus on governance from the outset, LFDE has decided to join two Paris marketplace initiatives that emphasise social and environmental issues.

  • A commitment to the environment, with the UN PRI

Biodiversity must be protected. LFDE has taken measures against deforestation in the Amazon, where deforestation has increased by 278%[1] in the past year . This commitment is in line with the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), a United Nations initiative that LFDE joined in 2008. A statement from international investors, urging companies to show their support to eliminate deforestation from their businesses and supply chains, will soon be made public.

  • A collaborative social commitment to the Access to Medicine Foundation

LFDE joins a coalition of 95 investors, representing over $13.5 trillion in assets under management, to support the Access to Medicine Foundation. This independent NGO publishes the Access to Medicine Index, an independent ranking of pharmaceutical companies based on their strategy to provide access to medicine in developing countries. LFDE will participate in various collective initiatives to encourage companies to work towards SDG 3 to promote health and well-being. LFDE has made a formal commitment to this project based on the quality of the Foundation’s research. Its resources already enable LFDE to better understand this complex issue as part of its ESG analysis method.

“These collaborative commitments reflect our efforts to channel capital into companies that contribute to the common good, consistent with our management philosophy,” said Sonia Fasolo, SRI manager at La Financière de l’Echiquier.
