#MeetLFDE : Marion Cohet Boucheron, Analyst, La Financière de l’Echiquier

What is your background? Why did you choose asset management?

I began my studies at the IESEG School of Management in Paris, where I specialised in finance, and at the same time, started a law degree at the Sorbonne. I actually wanted to work in events management.

But I discovered the world of financial markets during an internship in equity research at Raymond James in 2012 and I never looked back. I worked on the sell side for seven years, at Raymond James, Mainfirst and Stifel. I covered the consumer goods sector, including luxury goods, and hygiene and personal care.

I joined La Financière de l’Echiquier in October 2020 as an analyst. Similar title, but a different perspective as an investor.

I am passionate about asset management and its different facets:  the constant discovery of new companies, analytic rigour, the speed of financial markets, etc.

You joined La Financière de l’Echiquier to strengthen the impact management team. Do you think that the link between responsible investing and stock market and financial performance is growing?

Ultimately, the stock market performance of companies depends on their financial performance. We are convinced that the responsible and pioneering companies in which we invest will outperform financially as they will respond better to the expectations of their clients who are increasingly sensitive to environmental and social issues. They should also benefit from regulatory developments and investment plans such as the European Green Deal.

Do you have a passion?

I’m not sure you could call it passion, but I do have hobbies: running, cycling, walking and food. I also love travelling, which has been somewhat restricted over the last year!
