#MeetLFDE : Emilie Deslogis, International and Thematic Equity Analyst, La Financière de l’Echiquier

Tell us about your career path.

I studied economics and finance for five years at Université Panthéon-Assas Paris II, before completing an internship in Business Development at Lazard Frères Gestion at the end of my studies. I have very happy memories of my time there. Then I was hired by Primonial Group to develop Institutional Client and Independent Wealth Manager Services, which oversaw calls for tenders. I joined the Client Services department at La Financière de l’Echiquier (LFDE) and, at the same time, started studying for the CFA exam, so I could potentially switch to fund management. An opportunity arose at LFDE when Rolando Grandi was looking for an analyst to support him. Thanks to his and management’s confidence in me, I had the opportunity to join the international and thematic equities team in April 2019 and be involved in the growth of Echiquier Artificial Intelligence, the commercial launch of Echiquier World Next Leaders, and the creation of Echiquier Space on 31 May 2021!

What are your preferred investment themes?

We take a collective approach and invest in all themes. However, I prefer innovative healthcare themes – especially liquid biopsy and genetic testing. I’m also very interested in emerging consumer trends that are driving the new generations, and of course the absolutely fascinating space theme that I have worked on a lot this year. The space race has driven numerous innovations in the past, including the first microchip computers and dialysis systems. Today, this innovation is going even further, in part thanks to the experience of the zero-gravity environment aboard the International Space Station (ISS). For example, after a period of time on the ISS, protein crystals are purer and larger than on Earth, which could have a positive impact on future therapy research.

What are you passionate about?

Passion is rather a strong word, but I love travelling, exploring new horizons, and discovering different ways of living. I’m also very interested in medicine. So, I’m lucky to have a job that allows me to study innovative healthcare stocks and see these companies first-hand in many countries. I can’t wait for these trips to start up again!
