Our investment team has substantial experience and in-depth knowledge of the markets on which they operate. Our 35 managers and analysts forge their convictions on the ground, close to companies, in search of the best investment opportunities. The Responsible Investment Research team is a cornerstone of our approach in terms of training, support and leadership, and as such is a hallmark of our management structure.
Investment Team
CIO / Fund manager
Olivier de Berranger is a graduate of HEC. From 1990, he successively held positions as trader and then manager of the cash and derivative interest rate products trading desk at Credit Lyonnais and then Calyon. He subsequently served as Head of Capital Markets at First Finance, a consulting and training company. He joined La Financière de l’Echiquier as a fixed income fund manager in March 2007. In 2017, he was appointed CIO and joined the Executive Committee.
Deputy CIO
With a PhD in applied mathematics, a Master’s degree in market finance and capital management and a postgraduate degree (DEA Laure Elie) in statistics and random modelling, Matthieu is also an actuary. He began his career in 2002 at Oddo & Cie as a quantitative analyst for derivative products before joining Natixis AM with responsibility for financial engineering. In 2008 he joined EDRAM to set up a financial engineering department and then in 2013 created SIMAFIN (Société d'Ingénierie Mathématique et Financière), a provider of quantitative solutions. At Montpensier Finance, Matthieu works on core investment processes and the development of decision-making tools and methods. He joined La Financière de l’Echiquier in 2017 as Deputy Chief Investment Officer.

Graduate from IESEG and holder of an MA in Finance and Investment from Nottingham University, Maxime Lefebvre, CFA, started his career in 2003 as a marketing officer at Amundi in Hong-Kong and then at La Française des Placements in Paris. In 2007, after passing the CFA, he joined the portfolio management team of La Française des placements and spent 5 years as a portfolio manager in European equities. He moved in 2014 to La Banque Postale Gestion Privée, as a portfolio manager, where he developed a specific know-how on "value" stocks. Maxime Lefebvre joined La Financière de l'Echiquier in 2015, in order to strengthen our "value" team.

A graduate of EDHEC, Adrien began his career at Credit Suisse in London as a sell-side analyst in 1997. In 2005, he took over the analysis of the hardware and semiconductors sector. He joined Alliance Trust Investments in 2012 as Investment Manager in the global fund management team, before joining the SRI team and becoming co-manager of global funds in 2016. Adrien became a partner at Lion Trust Asset Management when it was acquired by ATI, before joining La Financière de l'Échiquier as fund manager of Echiquier Major SRI Growth Europe at the end of 2017. In 2020, he takes over the European large caps growth SRI equities team.

After a diploma in chartered accounting and a DESS postgraduate degree in tax law, José Berros joined the audit firm of Ernst & Young before moving to HSBC Private Bank where he was a director and responsible of the holdings of a capital investment fund. He joined La Financière de l’Echiquier in 2005, where he managed the Echiquier Neteor fund and then the Echiquier Junior fund. He is now a portfolio manager in the small and mid-cap team.

A graduate of Paris-Dauphine University (Magistère Banque Finance Assurance), and Bocconi University (Master’s), Louis began his professional career in 2014 at BlackRock as an equity funds analyst. He joined La Financière de l'Échiquier in 2018 as an analyst for the Echiquier Agressor fund. In January 2021, he also became manager of Echiquier Patrimoine and then of Echiquier Health Impact for all in May 2022. In January 2023, he also became manager of Echiquier Agressor.

In August 2017, he joined La Financière de l’Échiquier’s management team as a financial and SRI analyst. In 2020, he became an impact fund manager in the European large-cap SRI growth equities team.

A graduate of IESEG Paris in 2013 with a Master’s degree in Finance, Marion began her career as a sell side equity analyst at Raymond James before joining the MainFirst Group. In October 2020, Marion joined the management team of La Financière de l'Échiquier as a financial analyst covering European large-cap SRI growth equities.

A graduate of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne with a Master’s in Finance and over 20 years of experience, Paul Merle, CIIA, began his career in 2001 at Banque CPR as a Results Controller, before joining Federis Gestion d'Actifs in 2003 and becoming Head of SRI analysis in 2010. In 2016, Paul joined La Banque Postale Asset Management as an SRI manager-analyst and in January 2019 became Sustainable Thematic Equity Manager. In December 2020, he became a European large-cap SRI growth equities fund manager at La Financière de l’Échiquier.

After working as a sell-side analyst at CM-CIC Securities before turning to audit (KPMG), Romain Ruffenach joined SMA Gestion in 2013, in the Equity Long Only unit. Romain notably became manager of the company’s benchmark European equity fund. A graduate of Audencia Business School, Romain also holds a Master of Finance degree from the Ohio State University Fischer College of Business. He joined La Financière de l’Echiquier in 2018 as co-manager of Echiquier Value Euro.

A graduate of Sciences Po Paris, Bocconi University in Milan, Centre de formation à l’analyse financière (SFAF, French professional Financial Analyst certification) and CFA, Stéphanie Bobtcheff has specialised in mid-cap investments for over 18 years. She has been a portfolio manager at Indosuez Asset Management, Crédit Agricole Asset Management and Oddo Asset Management, and then spent 7 years in Geneva at Pascal Investment Advisers. She joined La Financière de l’Echiquier in September 2013 as a portfolio manager in the mid-cap team. In 2014, she took over the management of the small and mid-cap team.

Graduate from the Paris School of Business with a Master 2 in Corporate Finance, Sandra began her professional career in the Crédit du Nord group, before joining BNP Paribas Securities Services as account manager and becoming team leader. In 2018, she joined La Financière de l'Echiquier’s Middle Office team and became in October 2021 Portfolio manager assistant in the Small & Mid caps investment team.

He joined La Financière de l'Échiquier as the manager of the Echiquier World Equity Growth fund in September 2014. In 2021, he obtained the CFA-Certificate in ESG Investing.

A graduate with Masters 2 in Financial and Banking Techniques at Paris II Panthéon-Assas University, Emilie began her career at Lazard Frères Gestion in business development before joining Primonial's institutional clients department in September 2014. She joined La Financière de l’Echiquier in March 2018, also in Client Services. She became an analyst in the global equity and thematic fund management team in April 2019.

She began her career in 1998 at UBS as an investment banker before joining Fortis Investments as a fund manager-analyst in 2002. Nina then worked as an international equity manager at Crédit Agricole Asset Management, then at Amundi, at Gemway Assets and finally at La Française as Head of Equities. Nina joined La Financière de l'Echiquier in 2022 as manager of international equity funds. In 2022, she obtained the CFA-Certificate in ESG Investing and launched the Echiquier Go local fund, an international fund responding to the challenges of corporate relocation.

From Bolivia with a degree in finance from IAE Lyon school of business, Rolando Grandi began his career at Roche-Brune AM as an international equity analyst before becoming co-manager in 2015. Rolando joined La Financière de l’Echiquier in 2017 and became fund manager of thematic and international equities. In 2018, he launched Echiquier Artifical Intelligence, the first French investment fund on this theme. In 2021, he launched the first thematic fund in Europe focused on space and its ecosystem: Echiquier Space.

Graduated with a Master’s in Management and a specialization in Finance from IESEG Lille in 2016, Valentin began his career as a junior accountant in asset management at Deloitte before joining Trusteam Finance as a financial analyst. In June 2006, he helped to create Acropole AM, the leading French management company specialised in convertible bonds. Following the merger with La Financière de l’Echiquier in March 2013, he took over as head of convertible bond fund management.

A graduate of the Toulouse Business School, Guillaume Jourdan worked for nine years at ADI (2000-2009) and also at Montpensier Finance as a convertible bond manager. He joined La Financière de l’Echiquier in 2014 to strengthen the Convertible Bond team and round out its expertise. He is currently fund manager for Echiquier Convexité SRI Europe, Echiquier Agressor and the “best of” equity bucket of Echiquier ARTY SRI.

Graduated from the Magistère Banque Finance Assurance of the University of Paris Dauphine, Aurélien began his professional career with internships at Natixis. He then worked for 7 years at Fitch Ratings (London and Paris), as an analyst, then as an associate director in the automotive sector, and finally as a director in the same sector. In June 2021, he became a Senior Analyst at La Financière de l'Echiquier on multi-asset and credit funds (excluding convertible funds). In 2016, he obtained the CFA, and the CFA-Certificate in ESG Investing in 2021.

Originally from Argentina, Uriel Saragusti studied economics for three years at the University of Buenos Aires before obtaining a Master’s degree in Economics and Financial Engineering from Paris Dauphine University. After working as an analyst at Dexia Crédit Local, he continued his career at BNPP AM as a buy-side credit analyst, before joining La Financière de l’Echiquier in October 2013 as a credit analyst. Uriel became fund manager of Echiquier Credit SRI Europe in 2017, and has subsequently taken on the management of other credit and multi-funds, such as Echiquier ARTY SRI in 2019. In 2021, he was appointed Head of Credit.

Graduated from the Magistère Banque Finance Assurance of the University of Paris Dauphine, Aurélien began his professional career with internships at Natixis. He then worked for 7 years at Fitch Ratings (London and Paris), as an analyst, then as an associate director in the automotive sector, and finally as a director in the same sector. In June 2021, he became a Senior Analyst at La Financière de l'Echiquier on multi-asset and credit funds (excluding convertible funds). In 2016, he obtained the CFA, and the CFA-Certificate in ESG Investing in 2021.

Originally from Argentina, Uriel Saragusti studied economics for three years at the University of Buenos Aires before obtaining a Master’s degree in Economics and Financial Engineering from Paris Dauphine University. After working as an analyst at Dexia Crédit Local, he continued his career at BNPP AM as a buy-side credit analyst, before joining La Financière de l’Echiquier in October 2013 as a credit analyst. Uriel became fund manager of Echiquier Credit SRI Europe in 2017, and has subsequently taken on the management of other credit and multi-funds, such as Echiquier ARTY SRI in 2019. In 2021, he was appointed Head of Credit.

In charge of external fund selection since 2017, he has been managing several allocation funds and mandates since 2018.
